About Us
Founded in 2021 The Ground at the Gotham is a coffee shop that offers an always changing menu of beverages and snacks with a focus on creative seasonal and classic treats. Our design creates a warm and whimsical space filled with plants and gifts that are sourced from local creators.
Spring 2024 marks an exciting expansion with the opening of our second location, The Ground Rittenhouse. This new space aims to deepen the our connection with the community, providing another cozy gathering spot that not only serves neighbors but also enriches the local culture through workshops and events aligned with our core values and mission. At our new location, whether visitors are seeking a serene spot to unwind, a creative workshop or gift to inspire, The Ground hopes to be a new go-to in Rittenhouse.
Meet our founders
Michelle Miller
Michelle is an always caffeinated serial entrepreneur and design enthusiast. She combined her passion for plants, crafts, and caffeine into this new business concept. “I wanted to create a welcoming space with all my favorite things. It is a dream come true to mix delicious drinks and beautiful plants into one place. The Ground will be a wonderful starter for your day”. Michelle is the Co-founder and designer. Catch her making terrariums and shaking up bubble teas every afternoon.
Molly K
Molly is a former business consultant constantly on the go; she is thrilled to be planting roots in Philly and turning her passions into her daily grind. You can find this plant mama and co-founder at the shop curating the goods, the playlists, and the vibes five days a week.
Meet Our Team
Nik
Graduate of Temple University, Nik loves to travel and attend music festivals. As Manger of both locations, you can find Nik perfecting drinks and serving them with a smile. When Nik is not serving up your latte, you can find him exploring new places and tending to his 20+ plant babies.
John
John is a long-time non-profit professional with an epic list of event production under his belt. Agriculture alumni from both Walter Biddle Saul High School of Agricultural Sciences and Delaware Valley University, he has an in-depth history with the art of plants and flowers. A licensed Florist for over two decades, John has taken on the challenge of being our Creative Director. See him curating our holidays and making everything in the shop just a little bit more sparkly.
